EADS selects Data Physics Normal Mode analysis package for GVT

EADS in Munich has recently purchased a 256 channel SignalCalc Savant system for use in the Ground Vibration testing of the European Fighter Aircraft. The force appropriated sine excitation technique has been used successfully at EADS (formerly Alenia) in Italy where a Data Physics Normal Mode analysis system with 896 channels is installed since 1999. EADS (CASA) in Spain also uses a Data Physics Normal Mode system in the testing of Satellites and other spacecraft.

The Normal Mode Application in the SignalCalc® Savant Dynamic Signal Analyzer can drive up to 16 shakers and measure in excess of 1000 response channels. In addition to Normal Mode analysis, Savant offers MIMO as well as single shaker and impact methods of broadband excitation techniques for frequency response function measurement. The large range of export formats enable FRF measurements to be directly written into project files of all popular Modal analysis software systems for Modal analysis and easy comparison with other analytical methods and validation of finite element models. The hardware engine, Abacus, used in SignalCalc Savant is a newly developed platform that offers greater than 120dB dynamic range, high realtime rates and background recording of all channels during realtime measurements. The measurement functionality is always present whether the analyzer is used at maximum bandwidth (49 KHz) with all 1024 channels being recorded to disc. This unique capability is the result of a scalable signal processing architecture that uses Ethernet to connect together 32 channel modules into a Gigabit network. Even more important is the ability to place the modules up to 100 ft part from each other with no delays in the sampling clock so that the inherent delays in otherwise long transducer cables strung across a large test structure can be minimized resulting in improved accuracy of FRF measurements.

Data Physics releases new generation vibration Controllers

Data Physics receives ISO 9001:2000 certification

Data Physics Corporation has received ISO 9001:2000 certification, demonstrating that the company meets this international standards for quality. Data Physics quality system has been in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 since 1998. Audits for transition to the new standard were completed in April 2003 by British Standards Institution, BSI, which has headquarters in London, United Kingdom. Redefining portability with power:SignalCalc® Moblilyzer brings you 32 channels of realtime analysis for all your NVH measurements

Data Physics Corporation has recently introduced the first scalable DSPcentric signal Analysis engine, Abacus. While there are many instruments that use 24 bit ADC and DAC chips, Abacus is the first system to incorporate analog components and design considerations that can take advantage of the higher sampling dynamic range. The result is a consistent set of higher specifications for all measures of performance including Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). The inclusion of a floating point DSP processor capable of 1 Gigaflop with optimized data streaming to disk makes the hardware uniquely suited for realtime signal analysis and vibration control applications.

The architecture allows 8 input channel boards to be combined to make 32 channel subsystems which in turn can be connected on a 1 Gigabit network to make a thousand channel system. The modularity allows a dynamics laboratory to use portable instruments of varying sizes which can be united to form a large channel count system for occasional use in larger applications.

With the introduction of Abacus, Mobilyzer, the mid-range portable analyzer in the SignalCalc family, can now be configured from 4 to 32 input channels. You can also include up to 8 output channels (signal sources) and 8 tachometers for measuring 8 different shaft speeds. The Mobilyzer chassis is available with DC power making it ideal for in-car data acquisition and analysis. The high performance delivered by Abacus allows the Mobilyzer to record all channels (inputs, outputs and tachometers) to disc while making a variety of realtime dynamic signal analysis measurements. The modular software allows you to select only those measurements you need from an extensive range including: fft , realtime octave, sound quality, acoustic intensity, rpm based measurements and full order analysis.

EADS Selects Data Physics

With the award of an order for a 256 channel system, European Aeronautics & Defense Systems (EADS) in Munich joins the list of aerospace companies using SignalCalc Dynamic Signal Analyzers for large scale aerospace test applications. EADS follows in the footsteps of companies such as Alenia in Italy (896 channels), Alcatel in France (256 channels), CTA in Brazil (96 channels) and Northrup Grumman in the US (64 channels).
